Cristiano Ronaldo‘s sister has been caught liking an Instagram post that claims Man United manager Ralf Rangnick lied about the Portuguese superstar’s injury.
CR7 was absent from his side’s devastating 4-1 loss to neighbours Manchester City on Sunday afternoon. The reason for his absence was reportedly due to a hip flexor problem.
The 37-year-old, however, flew straight back to his native Portugal, seemingly for a weekend getaway. As a result, many have wondered if the injury was real.
United fans were originally over the moon at the Portuguese star’s arrival. However, the club’s season has since been characterised by a number of reports that suggest a host of dressing room issues between Ronaldo and club captain Harry Maguire surrounding the leadership of the club.
The problems don’t seem to have gone anywhere following Ronaldo’s absence on Sunday.
The Athletic highlighted the importance of Ronaldo’s presence to several of the side’s other players.
“Injured players are not obliged to attend matches but it is said Ronaldo’s team-mates feel his presence at the stadium, given his aura and contributions this campaign, could have been beneficial.”
What excuse did Ralf Rangnick give for Ronaldo’s absence?
While Ronaldo’s absence caused quite the stir, Ralf Rangnick has insisted it is down to injury problems and nothing more.
Speaking after the game, Rangnick identified hip flexor issues to be the reason Ronaldo wasn’t able to feature.
“I have to believe my medical department.
“Our doctor came to see me [on] Friday morning before training and told me that Cristiano cannot train because of some problems with his hip flexor.
“The same was true on Saturday and that’s why he couldn’t be part of the squad.”
Given the player’s absence, as well as a number of reports stating that has no injury, however, many have chosen not to believe Rangnick.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s sister likes post claiming Rangnick lied about injury
As made clear by OddsChanger, via Twitter, CR7’s sister liked a picture claiming Rangnick lied about his star’s injury.
The post had the following caption:
“Cristiano Ronaldo is not injured and he is not ill. The man is 100%. Good morning to you who, like me, are sad and angry because Rangnick decided to ruin our Sunday by taking CR7 out of the classic against Manchester City simply for tactical reasons, to defend himself more in the game.”
We know that Ronaldo flew home to Portugal during the Manchester derby. We can assume that he is still over there for now. Who knows, maybe CR7 was with his sister when she stumbled upon the post on his Instagram feed.
