Man United fans react to reports Marcus Rashford is ‘considering his future’

According to reports, Marcus Rashford is considering a potential transfer away from Manchester United, and fans of the club have already made their voices heard.

The England international has failed to impress this season, and patience is wearing thin among the side’s fans. Following Manchester City’s 4-1 thrashing of their city rivals on Sunday afternoon, the news broke, via a Fabrizio Romano tweet, that Marcus Rashford is ‘considering his future’ at the club.

Rashford is reported to be ‘concerned about his lack of game time’ at Old Trafford. But if you watched him feature against Pep Guardiola’s side on Sunday, it’s not hard to see why his appearances are few and far between.

The 24-year-old came onto the field in place of Paul Pogba in the 64th minute on the weekend. Despite being the only striker on the pitch, however, Rashford failed to make an impact on the game.

With the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani not in the squad, Rashford was the side’s only real striker option.

However, manager Ralf Rangnick instead opted for both Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes to operate as two false nines.

Marcus Rashford season comparison

Marcus Rashford has certainly missed out on a number of games in recent seasons due to injury troubles. However, a significant downgrade in performances has come with these off-the-pitch troubles.

In 24 appearances this season, Rashford has managed to register just five goals. Last season he managed a total of 21 across all competitions, having scored 22 the season prior.

While the season is not yet over, Rashford still has a long way to go to bring his numbers up.

However, it would appear that Rangnick is not his biggest supporter.

How have fans reacted to the news?

Rashford has received an overwhelmingly positive response for his work off the pitch in recent years. However, it would appear that his critics on the pitch don’t see him the same way.

Following the news, the Twitter fan-page UtdFaithfuls tweeted their opinion on the player: “If I was Rashford, I’d be embarrassed and angry at myself for allowing an inexperienced, 19-year-old Elanga outperform me.

“That should push him to work harder and regain his place, not seek “clarity” over his Man Utd future. EMBARRASSING.”

One fan replied to this tweet, going on to claim that Rashford wouldn’t survive under Sir Alex Ferguson: “We must get rid of weak mentality like this. Rashford wouldn’t survive 1 sec under SAF.”

Another fan replied to Samuel Luckhurst’s tweet confirming Rashford’s intentions.

“Absolute rubbish! This kid has played over 200 games for United, it’s beyond his potential, he just isn’t fulfilling it. That’s not down to coaching, that’s down to him and his mentality. And now he’s sulking because he can’t get games. How about earning it for once.”

Many fans also took to Reddit to respond to the news.

One fan wrote: “I expected Rashford to be sensible enough to realise his lack of game time is purely down to him being in the worst form of his life.

Another wrote: “Yeah, we can’t play him just because he is one of our own. We romanticize our academy way too much. He has been bad for quite a while now (even without any injuries). His form doesn’t warrant a place in the starting XI”
