‘Declan Rice is on fire’… Watch England star score screamer against France in third-place play-off

Declan Rice just produced a moment of magic against France at the FIFA World Cup 2026 third-place play-off.

After the heartbreak of losing to Argentina in the semi-final, England has given its fans something to cheer about.

On a night fans will hope to forget, England threw away a 1-0 lead in a game in which they really ought to have won. In a decision that puzzled football enthusiasts, Thomas Tuchel opted to go ultra-defensive, giving Lionel Messi an opportunity to showcase his genius.

After the wizard set up the first goal, he then created another brilliant piece of play. Showcasing wonderful skill, Messi beautifully assisted the second goal, to win the match for his side.

While devastated at the result, England has managed to bounce back in abundance, with the team putting on a clinic against France in the third-place play-off.

Despite some criticising the lack of importance of the game, Declan Rice has certainly taken it seriously.

Showcasing his talent, just three minutes into the fixture, the Arsenal man burst from the centre-circle, intercepting a pass, before charging towards France’s defence, where he then unleashed an effort with outrageous power, sending it spiralling into the back of the net.

To then add the cherry on top of the cake, he later assisted Ezri Konsa to double his side’s lead. England later added a third and a fourth before the first-half was done.

Of course, fans were quick to take to social media to praise Rice, with one saying: “Declan Rice is on fire. One goal and one assist in 18 minutes. What a masterclass.

Another wrote: “Even a half-fit Declan Rice is better than most proven midfielders.”

A third posted: “Declan Rice is showing that he’s truly worth leading the team tonight!
