Declan Rice is in jeopardy of missing the FIFA World Cup 2026 semi-final if England defeats Norway.
The quarter-final showdown is set to take place at Miami Stadium in Miami, Florida, USA.
Declan Rice will miss World Cup semi-final if he gets booked against Norway
In one of the greatest victories in English history, Declan Rice played his part in ‘The Three Lions’ overcoming Mexico at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City, Mexico.
The ground, which is 7220 feet above sea level, is widely considered one of the toughest places to emerge victorious in all of football.
The game got off to a raucous start when Rice kicked an opponent in the head to get a yellow card. Alas, that crazy foul could now make a massive impact on whether England makes it to the final or not.
FIFA rules state that yellow cards are officially wiped after both the group stage and the quarter-finals. But, if a footballer was booked in the Round of 32 and the Last 16, they would be suspended for the quarter-finals; and if a player is booked in the Round of 32 or the Last 16 and the quarter-finals, they would miss the semi-finals.
Therefore, if the Arsenal man is to get a yellow card against Norway, and England manage to win the match, then he’d be unavailable for a potential semi-final clash with most likely Argentina, which could spell disaster for his side.
