Jarell Quansah gets a red card at FIFA World Cup 2026

Going into tonight, England had an enormous mountain to climb. Claiming a victory over Mexico on their home turf is extremely difficult. Not only are the altitude of 7220 feet above sea level and the 87,523 screaming fans difficult to deal with, but the country’s insane record at the ground makes it almost impossible to come out on top. Prior to the match, only two teams had defeated Mexico at the Azteca.

However, in a testament to their fighting spirit, ‘The Three Lions’ hit the ground running with Jude Bellingham scoring two goals for England. However, while Thomas Tuchel’s men looked on the cusp of ending the myth of the Azteca once and for all, Mexico reminded the world that it’s become a fortress for a reason, with Julián Quiñones pulling one back before halftime.

Football enthusiasts were quick to head to social media to voice their opinions, with one saying: “Awful tackle.” However, others disagreed, with an enraged supporter posting: “Never a red.”

Two penalties later, and the game had gone from 2-1 to 3-2, with England having to fight with everything in their power to hold off the home side. And to their credit, they did, with the visitors booking a place in the quarter-finals.
