Fighter hits opponent with a lightsabre and then gets attacked by his coach — Akonne Wanliss drama

After Akonne Wanliss threatened to bounce a pack of Jaffa Cakes off his opponent’s coach’s head, all bets were off, as his Swedish rival’s team went berserk and attacked him.

Renowned for his palpable charisma and amusing antics, ‘The Jedi’ is always up for a laugh often at the expense of the men lining up to fight him. And on this occasion, it was Sahil Siraj who felt the brunt of his amusing antics.

Living up to his Star Wars nickname, the Birmingham brawler turned up to the Oktagon 54 weigh-in with a lightsabre, and comically knocked it off the Swede’s head. This came just days after the pair had met at the airport and nearly come to blows after Wanliss branded the All Stars’ representative a ‘p**sy’.

The bubbling beef between the pair had caught the attention of the mixed martial arts community, with many tuning in for the press conference ahead of their bout in Ostrava in the last-16 of the 1,000,000 Tipsport Gamechanger competition.

Referred to as the ‘Champions League of MMA’, the tournament pits together the greatest fighters in the continent, with an enormous prize pot and national honour up for grabs.

Alas, the pair never made it to the cage. After threatening to bounce a box of Jaffa Cakes off his opponent’s head, things turned ugly.

Following an entertaining press conference, Wanliss walked backstage, where his opponent’s coach was lying in wait. Before the Brit knew what was happening, he’d been headbutted by one member of Siraj’s team, while another quickly got in on the action, punching the helpless victim in the face.

The incident left the Brummie unable to fight and consequently robbed the fans at home from witnessing the battle they so desperately wanted to see.

However, knowing just how big a scrap Wanliss vs Siraj is, Pavol Neruda and Ondrej Novotný quickly got to work, and rearranged the contest for April 20 at the Resorts World Arena in Birmingham, much to the delight of MMA enthusiasts.

In front of his hometown crowd, the Star Wars fanatic will do everything in his power to give his people a night they’ll never forget. And if the grudge wasn’t already big enough, it certainly is now.
