Hamzah Sheeraz failed to impress during his fight with Simon Zachenhuber.
The highly respected boxer would’ve loved to have delivered a spectacular display on the Anthony Joshua vs Kristian Prenga undercard in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Alas, it didn’t exactly work out like that.
Hamzah Sheeraz defeats Simon Zachenhuber
Hamzah Sheeraz overcame Simon Zachenhuber in a contest that left the commentators perplexed. While not a bad fighter by any stretch of the imagination, the boxing community didn’t give the title challenger much of a chance of going the distance.
However, Zachenhuber not only heard the final bell, but landed notable big shots, and even won some rounds.
From the moment the action started, Sheeraz didn’t look at the races with the lethargic Brit marching forward, but not detonating his usually spectacular combinations.

Understandably, most came to the conclusion that Sheeraz was merely attempting to wear his opponent down before drowning him under an unrelenting wave of pressure in the mid-rounds.
However, this never came, with the commentary team branding his display ‘strange’, even suggesting ‘there must be something wrong’.
By the end of the contest, it was clear the rank outsider wasn’t going anywhere. The fight went to the judges, with two of them favouring Sheeraz, while the other scored the bout a draw.
In the aftermath, the champion blamed a lack of motivation for his dull display, claiming that he didn’t fear his rival. Fans can only hope he has a far greater concern for his next opponent.
