Rodri, Pau Cubarsí and Unai Simon win awards for Spain

This summer, World Cup fever has spread around the globe, with fans from far and wide tuning in to watch the action unfold. Following countless matches, Spain and Argentina rose to the top, with the fantastic teams setting foot onto the field one last time to decide who the number one country on the planet really is.

After 90 minutes couldn’t separate them, the two sides went to extra-time, where Ferran Torres hit the back of the net to win the game for his side and to give Spanish supporters both inside the ground and back home in Iberia a moment they’ll never forget.

WOW: Will Lionel Messi play at the next World Cup after legend left in tears following loss to Spain?

Following the match, Rodri was awarded with the Golden Ball Award, which acknowledges the best player of the competition.

But he wasn’t the only Spaniard to receive his flowers, as Pau Cubarsí was crowned the Best Young Player. The 19-year-old, who represents Barcelona, certainly had an eventful game, with Enzo Fernandez getting sent off for a horrific tackle on Cubarsí. However, that moment didn’t take the shine off a brilliant performance from the future great, who successfully kept Argentina at bay for 120 minutes.

Furthermore, after keeping seven clean sheets and setting a record of not conceding a goal for 650 minutes, Unai Simon picked up the Golden Glove.

After Spain bagged three awards, France also got a name on the board, with Kylian Mbappe earning the Golden Boot by scoring 10 goals.
