Leandro Paredes got into a post-World Cup Final brawl
While Spain vs Argentina wasn’t the most dramatic game, what occurred following the match was undeniably packed with action. From the moment the whistle blew, everything kicked off.
During the BBC broadcast, Guy Mowbray explained: “It’s going off all over the field as Ferran Torres celebrates with his teammates. It has sparked in the middle, and Lionel Scaloni has had to come on and drag his players away. It’s awful scenes from an Argentina side that has been well beaten in this game. That is not the way to react at all.”

Alan Shearer added: “Leandro Paredes, I think I saw him swing at least two or three haymakers into someone’s face, he actually went for someone. There is no place or space for that. We know how much it means to them, and we know how much it hurts when they lose, but there’s a way to lose, but too many times we’ve seen that reaction from them. They were trying to win free kicks. The reaction after the final whistle is terrible. There’s no doubt the best team has won. From start to finish, they controlled possession. They were the ones looking to play football and create chances, and run in behind. Like I said earlier, it’s a result for football because of the way Spain have played. They deserve it.”
