Lamine Camara to Chelsea: agreement reached for £47m

Chelsea have reached an agreement with Monaco to sign midfielder Lamine Camara in a deal worth £47m, according to David Ornstein. The 22-year-old Senegal international has already completed his medical and will sign a six-year contract at Stamford Bridge, which includes an option for a further season.

The move comes as a direct response to the departure of Enzo Fernandez. The Argentine midfielder is set to join Manchester City for a fee of £125m, according to Ben Jacobs. This significant sale provided Chelsea with the funds to swoop for Camara late in the summer window. The deal was reportedly driven by Chelsea co-owner Behdad Eghbali.

The transfer had previously looked unlikely to happen. However, Monaco required a sale after doubts emerged over Folarin Balogun’s proposed move to Everton, according to Ben Jacobs. Chelsea capitalised on the situation to secure the highly-rated midfielder. Camara is expected to arrive in London on Wednesday to finalise his move.
