Folarin Balogun failed medical because of underlying physical issue

Folarin Balogun has had an incredibly dramatic summer. During the FIFA World Cup 2026, the talented player was controversially allowed to represent his country in the Last 16 of the competition against Belgium despite having received a red card against Bosnia and Herzegovina in the previous match.

In addition, his club future has been up in the air, with a move to Everton completely falling apart.

The Premier League side hoped that Balogun would make an enormous splash in Merseyside. Alas, it wasn’t to be.

The 25-year-old underwent a medical, with diagnostics confirming that he was suffering from an underlying physical issue, leading Everton staff to conclude that he would not be available to start playing immediately.

However, despite this, the side still tried to get the transfer over the line, until a shocking situation arose at the last minute.

Following the failed medical, Everton and Monaco renegotiated the deal.

However, in the dying embers of the transfer window, Balogun had a change of heart and walked away.

The decision came as a shock to the Premier League team, which is now left without the marquee signing it was hoping for.
