Newcastle United could sweep the rug from beneath Barcelona’s feet and sign a former FA Cup winner.
Bringing in the forward would make a huge impact at St. James’ Park.
Newcastle United could sign Omar Marmoush
Newcastle United is firmly in the race to secure the signature of Omar Marmoush, who looks set to make an exit from the Etihad during the summer transfer window.
Despite having showcased his skills with Manchester City, the 27-year-old has struggled to secure a place in the team’s starting XI, and consequently has developed a willingness to leave his current club.
Barcelona reportedly have a huge appreciation for the ability Marmoush possesses. However, the La Liga giants do not class the Egyptian as their number one priority, which has opened the door for Newcastle to swoop.
According to CaughtOffside, the North East side has a very realistic chance of bagging the player’s signature, with their report reading: “Newcastle United are ready to join the race for in-demand Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush.”
With Anthony Gordon having signed for Barcelona. Sandro Tonali making the move to Tottenham and Bruno Guimaraes switching his allegiance to Arsenal, Newcastle certainly isn’t short of cash.
And with voids needing to be filled, the side looks like it will be willing to fork out the money.
The report continued: “Newcastle are aware of their need to complete strong deals to strengthen the attacking line. The forwards the club signed last summer did not meet expectations, and there are serious doubts surrounding the future of Nick Woltemade, while Marmoush occupies a prominent position on their list of interests.”
“The deal will not be cheap, but Newcastle are under pressure to complete a prominent signing of this kind at present, especially after the large financial returns they made from selling players. Although there has been no official move so far, this is certainly worth following.”
