RB Leipzig’s Twitter give blunt response to Upamecano transfer rumours

It was only a matter of time before the rumour mill kicked into overdrive surrounding the future of Dayot Upamecano.

The young defender has excelled with the Bundesliga club and produced a string of impressive showings in the Champions League, inevitably leading to him being linked with a number of clubs.

Arsenal have been heavily linked since last year, though it’s Manchester United who are apparently the latest side interested in securing the services of the 21-year-old, with Solskjaer likely in need of defensive reinforcements.

However both the German and English Leipzig social media teams aren’t having any of those rumours, as both made not-so-subtle references to the fact that the Frenchman had recently signed a contract extension.

They’ve even taken it upon themselves to leave a few sarcastic replies on the stories linking their player with a move away from the club.

With United set to announce the signing of Ajax’s Donny van de Beek, fans will be hoping that Solskjaer is given the chance to strengthen his squad in time for the upcoming season. While his side have looked much more solid defensively since the arrival of Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, capturing the signature of Upamecano would be a real sign of intent.

If the club fails to reach an agreement this season with Borussia Dortmund over Jadon Sancho, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise if that’s where the funds were directed next.

One thing’s for sure, wherever Upamecano is next season, they’ll have one hell of a defender on their hands and undoubtedly one of the brightest young players in the world right now.
