Real Betis make Grand Theft Auto-inspired announcement video

In the age of social media, creative announcement videos from top clubs are very much the norm.

We’ve seen them all – from Partick Thistle’s manager belting out the adapted lyrics to ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s‘ to Gianluigi Buffon’s Superman-style unveiling at Parma.

But this Grand Theft Auto-inspired video from Real Betis is a completely new one.

The LaLiga club announced the return of defender German Pezzella from Fiorentina on a four-year contract yesterday.

They then set about getting creative on social media.

In the announcement – which begins with a ‘GTA – Real Betis’ logo – a man can be seen striding towards the camera before uttering the infamous GTAIV line: “Ah boy, here we go again”.

A rotating map then appears in the corner of the screen, before the man puts on his helmet and gets on a scooter to the stadium.

Once at the training ground, he approaches two men positioned outside a car and shouts: “We had a deal! Where’s my stuff?”

He then gets back on the scooter in possession of a green object, and passes a man holding up an ‘Announce’ sign on his travels.

Once at the stadium, he discards his green jacket and – still striding in the same GTA-inspired manner – walks out on to the pitch where he is greeted by Argentinian Guido Rodriguez.

The man then hands over a Betis shirt to Pezzella, who is waiting in the dugout for him.

Once the defender holds up the shirt, the words ‘mission passed – signed’ adorn the screen.

Fair play to Real Betis for an announcement video that is unlikely to be topped this window.

Upon signing, Pezzella told the club’s website: “I am very happy to return, to be reunited with a club where I was very happy.”
