Real Betis player Andres Guardado trolls Sevilla with fake injury re-enactment

The Seville derby never lacks spice, that’s for sure.

Following the conclusion of their replay, Real Betis midfielder Andres Guardado trolled Sevilla player Joan Jordan after their Copa Del Rey triumph over their rivals. Guardado reenacted the incident where Jordan was hit by a missile from the crowd. It wasn’t the most sympathetic act towards his fellow competitor.

Saturday madness

Before the stoppage, the match was entertaining. Alejandro Gomez had opened the scoring for Sevilla with a smart finish. However, Nabil Fekir scored directly from a corner to equalize for Betis.

While celebrating, a Betis fan launched a PVC pole that hit Joan Jordan’s head. Doctors treated the Sevilla midfielder while, and the game stopped for 20 minutes. The incident led to the postponement of the fixture, angering attending fans.

Afterwards, the Betis players took to social media to voice their opinions. For example, Victor Camarasa suggested that Jordan was faking the injury.

Despite the uproar, the Spanish Federation rescheduled the tie for Sunday 16th January. Needless to say, everyone was keen to see the replay.

Real Betis 2 – 1 Sevilla

The game resumed on Sunday afternoon behind closed doors. It kicked off from the 39th minute, the point at which the last tie was stopped.

Betis restarted the game the brightest. The lack of atmosphere seemed to have no effect on them. They dominated the first half and had a goal disallowed for offside. However, the teams went in level at the break.

Betis took the lead midway through the second half through Spanish midfielder Sergio Canales. He fired a shot through the Sevilla keeper, giving them a satisfying victory over their bitter rivals.

While they celebrated, Betis players trolled Sevilla for the pipe incident.

Andres Guardado goes trolling

While Betis partied on the pitch, Andres Guardado threw a water bottle at his own head and pretended to be knocked out. Fans quickly saw this footage, seeing it as clear trolling. Betis fans found his actions hilarious, while others thought it was disrespectful.

Guardado came on as a substitute. This actually made him the Mexican with the most games played in Europe, with 496 appearances. However, his antics might overshadow this achievement. Either way, the trolling will add extra fuel to an explosive rivalry between the two sides.
