Ruben Dias didn’t hold back on giving his thoughts on Enzo Maresca.
Manchester City suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Arsenal at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.
Ruben Dias opens up about working under Enzo Maresca at Manchester City
On a day Manchester City fans would rather forget, they had to watch in dismay as ‘The Gunners’ thrashed them 3-0.
The match couldn’t have started much worse, with Riccardo Calafiori scoring after just 24 seconds, before Kai Havertz headed home to double his side’s lead.
In the second half, Martin Odegaard humiliated Gianluigi Donnarumma to finish off a truly awful day at the office for Enzo Maresca and his team.
Following the game, Ruben Dias was asked about what life has been like under his new manager.
During the TNT Sports broadcast, he explained: “It’s obviously a positive energy and the feeling of having to put in a lot of work. It’s part of any transition for things not to be so perfect in the beginning. You need to push through; you need to keep on working, you need to communicate, and make things work between us. I feel like we’re in a good way but we need to keep on working, but there’s going to be lots of challenges along the way, and that’s it. We need to stay positive. We have our first Premier League game very soon, and we’re looking forward to it.”
Enzo Maresca reacts to Community Shield defeat
Of course, Maresca didn’t want to lose. However, he’s still taken positives away from the game.
During his post-match interview, the gaffer said: “The result is not what we would’ve hoped. The goal we conceded after 24 seconds had an impact on the game. But the reaction after the goal I think was good. After they scored the first goal, we had three or four chances to find the equaliser. Unfortunately, we conceded the next one. It’s a defeat that hurt us. But this is just the beginning.”
