Andoni Iraola provided a double injury update for Liverpool following the club’s defeat to Monaco.
The Premier League giants suffered a 3-2 loss at the hands of the Ligue 1 side.
Andoni Iraola gives updates on Jeremy Jacquet and Curtis Jones
While it was only a pre-season match, Andoni Iraola will likely have concerns with how Liverpool performed. ‘The Reds’ threw away a two-goal lead, leaving fans deeply disappointed.
Many were hopeful that Jeremy Jacquet would make his debut for the club after signing from Rennes. In addition, at the very least, Curtis Jones was expected to make the squad. However, neither of the football stars was able to grace the pitch.
The decision regarding whether Jacquet would play or not came down to the wire, with Iraola eventually deciding that it would be best not to risk him. The manager confirmed that he will feature in Liverpool’s next match against Como.
Following the defeat to Monaco, Iraola confirmed: “Jeremy Jacquet: we were in doubt whether to pick him today, should be fine for next one.”
When discussing Jones, the gaffer was blunt on why he wasn’t selected, claiming: “Curtis: something wrong with his hip, didn’t make sense to risk.”
Considering the state of Liverpool’s performance, it’s certainly a relief for supporters that neither man is expected to be out for a long period of time.
