EXCLUSIVE: Jon Jones has given a fascinating insight into whether he could still fight Tom Aspinall and Francis Ngannou.
The legendary UFC star, who dominated the sport of mixed martial arts for over a decade, has a very exciting future ahead. Jon Jones says fights with Tom Aspinall and Francis Ngannou are still possible
In his remarkable career, Jon Jones has cemented his status as the most naturally talented competitor to have ever graced the cage. After winning titles at light heavyweight and heavyweight, the warrior walked away, having achieved everything he wanted to.
However, fans would still revel in the prospect of watching ‘Bones’ battle it out with both Tom Aspinall and Francis Ngannou. And while injuries have played a part in preventing those match-ups from coming to fruition, the American has candidly discussed the steps he’s taking to get back to his ferocious best.
WOW: ‘I call out Jon Jones’… Gordon Ryan challenges ‘Bones’ to face him in a thrilling sport
In an exclusive interview with Sporf, the 38-year-old explained: “You never know what’s going to happen in life. I just talked to Joe Rogan the other day, and he’s like, ‘I’ve got some friends out at a place called Ways2Well, who gave me some initial stem cells, and I have been moving around way better than I used to’. Joe was telling me, ‘The way that stem cells work is that you’ve got to keep compiling them, stay on them, and before you know it, you’ll be back to full health’. So, I’m going to get more stem cells and see if that’s true, and I regain the mobility in my hips that I once had.
“My heart and spirit are always there when it comes to fighting. Being around and coaching Gable Steveson, and getting called out by Francis Ngannou and seeing how wide open the heavyweight division is, it obviously creates this itch that I feel like I really want to scratch, but I’m just going to let time tell me. I’ll take Joe’s advice and take more stem cells, and continue to pour my energy into Gable, and continue to be his number one training partner, which will obviously show me a lot about where I am physically, and you just never know what the future holds. I’m keeping my door open. I’m getting drug tested constantly by the UFC, and they still owe fight offers, and I’m going to see how the stars align.”
