‘I call out Jon Jones’… Gordon Ryan challenges ‘Bones’ to face him in a thrilling sport

EXCLUSIVE: Gordon Ryan wants to test himself against Jon Jones in one of the most exciting sports on the planet.

The pair of legends are arguably the greatest competitors in the history of their disciplines, making the idea of this potential clash possibly the perfect way to settle who the better athlete really is.

Gordon Ryan is a master grappler, with the superstar mesmerizing fans around the world with his remarkable jiu-jitsu skills. And now, having cemented his status as a great in one sport, he’s now exploring another, with the warrior travelling to watch East vs West Armwrestling 24 to learn the ropes from John Brzenk and Devon Larratt.

When asked to choose his dream opponent out of any UFC fighter, there was only one name on his mind.

In an exclusive interview with Sporf, Ryan exclaimed: “I think I would have to go with Jon Jones, just because I like to beat him at stuff. He’s a giant heavyweight; he’s my friend. I call out Jon Jones for an arm wrestling match.”

Ryan had an eye-opening experience training with Larratt and Brzenk, with the 30-year-old learning exactly what it takes to reach the top in arm wrestling. And following his experience at the table, he invited ‘No Limits’ into his world, which, of course, resulted in the Canadian getting swiftly submitted.

Ryan chuckled: “It’s always amazing training with guys who are enormous and strong. I felt like a child on the arm wrestling table; whenever they applied a little bit of pressure, my arm was moving, and there was no choice. I like to believe I can make people feel like that on the ground. It was really cool to experience that degree of arm wrestling and fun to play around with Devon on the ground. It was a concrete floor, not a mat area, so I was trying to keep him safe, not go super hard, and ensure neither of us broke our teeth. But it was fun for sure; trying to separate his arms, I was like, ‘This is going to be interesting’. He has giant hands.”
