Jamie Vardy talked N’Golo Kante into playing for France

On July 15, 2018, N’Golo Kante achieved what most footballers can only ever dream of. In a career-defining match, the midfielder, represented France on the grandest stage of them all: a World Cup final showdown, in which his side defeated Croatia 4-2 at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow, Russia.

For the rest of his life, the superstar can go home and see that all-important medal staring back at him.

However, he never would’ve played in that match, or indeed for France at all, had Jamie Vardy and other Leicester City stars not gotten involved to try and convince him that representing the European side was his destiny.

On an episode of Jamie Vardy is Having a Party, the Englishman explained: “The mad thing as well, originally, he didn’t even want to play for France. He wanted to represent Mali for his dad, but France called him before Mali did. We were all at training going, ‘What are you actually thinking about? They’re going to win, go and play for France’.”
