Trent Alexander-Arnold reveals what he wants from Thomas Tuchel after impressive England performance

Trent-Alexander Arnold has high hopes for his England future.

After his side emerged victorious 2-0 against Czech Republic at Eden Stadium in Prague, the Real Madrid star shared his thoughts on what he’d like Thomas Tuchel to do with him next.

Tonight marked the first time Trent Alexander-Arnold had started an England match, since a 2024 Nations League showdown against Finland, and the first time he had appeared for his country altogether since a World Cup qualifier against Andorra in 2025.

With that in mind, he played his heart out, against Czech Republic, knowing he had to impress Tuchel. And it’s fair to say he delivered, with the defender telling ITV that he hopes the manager keeps him in the team.

During his post-match interview, Alexander-Arnold said: “It’s always been an honour and a pleasure to represent my country. It’s been a long time, but I’ve always believed I could play for England, and I always want to. The manager has given me the chance tonight to go and play and do what he asks of me to the best of my ability. Hopefully, he’s happy with how I played.

“When I’m given the opportunities, I’ll try my best to take them. Hopefully, I remain part of the squad and the team for a long time now.”

Prior to Anthony Gordon setting foot on the field, he shared a word with Alexander-Arnold. With the pair on the same wavelength, it didn’t take them long to strike, with the former Liverpool star delivering an excellent ball to the Barcelona man, who found the back of the net.

When asked about whether it’s his best assist, Alexander-Arnold replied: “It’s up there for sure. I spoke to Anthony Gordon at half-time, and I said, ‘If I’m getting in those half spaces and I’m looking to put it in, make sure you get to the back post. Of course, you don’t expect it to happen that quickly, but it did, and it worked.”
