Frank Lampard says Coventry City’s season won’t be defined by Arsenal loss

After winning the Championship in 2025/26, Coventry City got a taste of what it’s like to operate at the highest level of football tonight, when they went head-to-head with Arsenal.

Despite their very best efforts, the team struggled, conceding three goals and failing to score themselves in a match that they’d like to forget in a hurry.

While unhappy with the result, Frank Lampard believes his team still has plenty left in the tank, and thus, hasn’t given up hope of a successful season, especially knowing how difficult the challenge they just took on was.

During a post-match interview on Sky Sports, Coventry star, Matt Grimes, was asked about what the manager said to the team in the locker room, to which he responded: “Our season is not going to be defined by coming away to places like this and getting beat. Obviously, we wanted to do well and cause a bit of an upset, but it wasn’t meant to be. We learned a lot, but coming here against the champions, a team so well drilled, such good players, it was always going to be a big ask.”

Carl Rushworth slammed by Jamie Carragher for error against Arsenal

While the entire Coventry team received backlash for their performance, Carl Rushworth took the brunt of the criticism.

The goalkeeper made an error, which Jamie Carragher couldn’t ignore.

Unsurprisingly, the Liverpool icon didn’t hold back.

This is what Carragher said about the Coventry goalkeeper’s mistake.
