What is England’s path to FIFA World Cup 2026 final after 2-1 win against DR Congo?

England is moving closer to making the FIFA World Cup 2026 final, but which countries will they have to beat to make it to the biggest showdown in all of sport?

England could play France in FIFA World Cup 2026 final

While ‘Three Lions’ fans sitting in front of their TV screens, in beer gardens and indeed in the stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, are celebrating Harry Kane scoring a late winner for England, there are far tougher matches ahead.

In the early hours of Monday morning in the UK, Thomas Tuchel’s men have an almighty task on their hands. England have to take on Mexico at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City, Mexico, in a match in which the European side will have to overcome an incredibly hostile atmosphere.

Should they emerge from that match-up victorious, then a quarter-final likely awaits with Brazill. And if they manage to produce a monumental win against the 5x World Cup champions, the South American theme will almost definitely continue, with England having to battle it out with Argentina.

If the rollercoaster ride goes all the way to the final, then the 1966 winners will probably have the almighty task on their hands of trying to beat France.
