Brazil fans will not be happy with England defeating DR Congo at the FIFA World Cup 2026.
‘The Three Lions’ won 2-1 in the Round of 32 fixture with the African side at Atlanta Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.
Brazil might have to play England at FIFA World Cup 2026
Thomas Tuchel’s men went into this evening’s showdown with DR Congo as monumental favourites. However, the European giants quickly learned that their rivals were more than up for the challenge, with Brian Cipenga beating Jordan Pickford to put them 1-0 up.
Refusing to go away, the 1966 World Cup winners battled back, with Harry Kane scoring twice for England to secure a spot in the last 16.
WOW: What is England’s path to FIFA World Cup 2026 final after 2-1 win against DR Congo?
A few days earlier, Brazil were in a very similar position, with the 5x champions of the tournament having to come from behind late against Japan to survive an embarrassing defeat.
Brazil will now have to play Norway in the last 16, and should they win this match, they’ll likely have to overcome England in the quarter-final.
Had The Three Lions lost against DR Congo, then ‘The Canarinho’ most likely would have had to play Mexico in the final eight, and therefore, the path they now currently face is much tougher, at least on paper.
