Aston Villa vs Arsenal is going ahead with significantly fewer fans than usual.

Construction work means Aston Villa won’t have any fans in the North Stand

Aston Villa have confirmed a reduced stadium capacity of approximately 37,000 for the entire 2026/27 season. The temporary limitation has been implemented because the North Stand is closed in order to facilitate construction works.

Once the redevelopment project is finished, the club will increase its maximum attendance to seat 50,000 supporters. The Midlands side timed the closure to ensure that all facility upgrades are complete in time for the stadium to host games throughout Euro 2028, with a long-term ambition of solidifying the ground as one of the premier stadiums in the country.

The roof that previously stood tall above the North Stand has been taken down to allow for major internal demolition and foundation work, so that they can install brand-new structural wings.

While things won’t run as smoothly as normal, ball assistants will operate around the stand during games, with the club exploring the concept of temporary pitch netting to isolate the building site from what’s going on during matches.

Practically every seat in the Trinity Road stand was removed during the summer, with replacements implemented to reconfigure the overall seating layout of the stadium. In addition, the club have added a new press box. Furthermore, a new player tunnel will be constructed in the corner where the Trinity Stand meets the North Stand.
