On August 29, Moses Itauma will take on Filip Hrgovic for the vacant IBF world title at the O2 Arena in London, UK.

While the Croatian presents a huge step-up for the 21-year-old, having showcased remarkable power and an innate boxing IQ, many are expecting the Brit to cruise to victory and cement his status as the best in the division.

Meanwhile, despite a nightmare negotiation period, Tyson Fury still looks most likely to face Anthony Joshua in November, with the pair of legends finally hoping to settle their differences after over a decade of chasing one another.

Alas, neither man is at their best anymore, with Fury currently a narrow favourite following his foe’s almost disastrous clash with Kristian Prenga, in which ‘AJ’ was dropped twice in the first round.

During an interview on Fight Your Corner, Shane Fury conceded that his brother isn’t what he once was, and definitely doesn’t want to see his sibling take on Itauma.

He explained: “I put Tyson there [higher] and I put the rest of the top heavyweights here [lower]. When Tyson was at his best, these champions were around today; he would have made those fights, and I would have been so comfortable. But for me now, if Tyson made those fights, I would go into training camp, and I would be fully confident that Tyson’s going to do it, but not as confident as I was. Before, it would have been a demolition job, a sparring match. Play with them, Tyson. Get him out there. But now they’re close fights, and they’re no walk in the park.

“The last man I’d want to see Tyson in the ring with would be Moses Itauma. I wouldn’t want to see it, but 18 months ago, I would’ve seen them two go to war. I mean, war. You’d love to see it, honestly.”

Even if Itauma and Fury get through their next fights unscathed, a bout between the pair would still be very difficult to make, as Frank Sanchez is next in line for a shot at the IBF championship.
