Aaron Chalmers has revealed why he found Floyd Mayweather ‘Pathetic’, as he prepares to fight another icon at BKFC 90

EXCLUSIVE: Aaron Chalmers has opened up about what he thought was a bit embarrassing about Floyd Mayweather in the build-up to their fight.

After growing his star power through Geordie Shore, the popular personality transitioned to the world of combat sports, initially competing in MMA, before making the switch to boxing, where he secured a blockbuster clash with ‘Money’. And now, he’s less than two weeks away from sharing the ring with another superstar of the fight game at BKFC 90.

Aaron Chalmers thought Floyd Mayweather’s entourage was pathetic

On February 25, 2023, Aaron Chalmers produced a valiant display, lasting all six rounds against Floyd Mayweather, at the O2 Arena in London, UK.

While the charismatic brawler was delighted to have received the opportunity to trade blows with one of the greatest of all time, he certainly wasn’t impressed by the number of people the boxer had hanging around him.

WOW: ‘I’d spark Floyd Mayweather’… Amir Khan backs himself to destroy ‘Money’ and two other legends in bare-knuckle boxing

During an exclusive interview with Sporf, Chalmers explained: “It was a circus. Floyd Mayweather is Floyd Mayweather, but the entourage he has around him is pathetic. It was embarrassing. There were people with bright jackets, with ‘Floyd Mayweather’ written in sparkly letters on the back. I took the fight on four weeks’ notice, and my youngest son hadn’t been too well, so I’d been drinking a lot. I dropped 11kg in four weeks to get the fight. I just gave him too much respect in there. Looking back now, I should’ve just gone in and had an actual fight, like a bare-knuckle. I’ve got a picture at my door, and every time I look at it, I just feel like it’s not real.”

And as it turns out, Chalmers has a very amusing anecdote about that photograph.

The 38-year-old chuckled: “What’s funny is, a delivery driver came once, and the door was open. He was looking at me, and looking at the photo, and he said, ‘Is that Floyd Mayweather’? I said, ‘Yeah’, and he just turned around and walked off. I’m thinking, ‘He thinks I’ve put that together, he doesn’t think that was an actual fight’.”

Aaron Chalmers opens up about fight with Darren Till at BKFC 90

Having already battled it out with Mayweather, it’s fair to say Chalmers isn’t afraid of anyone, hence why he has agreed to go toe-to-toe with Darren Till in an eagerly anticipated showdown on May 30, inside the Utilita Arena in Birmingham, UK.

When asked about the match-up, the warrior replied: “I’m not one to turn down a fight. I think every opportunity that’s presented to you is presented for a reason, so I said, ‘Yes’. Then, I got a little bit of nerves because I was thinking, ‘He’s massive and awkward’. Then, I was driving, and my phone started pinging. It was announced, and I thought, ‘It’s on’. I’m not stupid, I know what’s ahead of me, but I feel at home in bare-knuckle. It’s a daunting challenge, but it’s also exciting.”
