Álvaro Arbeloa won’t be going out with Xabi Alonso in the aftermath of his side’s defeat to Chelsea.
Despite a spirited effort, Fulham ultimately succumbed to a 3-2 loss at Craven Cottage.
Álvaro Arbeloa turns down beer with Xabi Alonso
While Chelsea were undoubtedly the favourites going into tonight’s match, Fulham certainly didn’t come just to lie down.
However, they were clearly up against it right from the first whistle, with Joao Pedro producing a moment of magic to lift the ball over the goalkeeper to give his side the lead after just 31 seconds.
Refusing to give up, Josh Hill found an equaliser. Alas, Morgan Rogers quickly put Chelsea back in the ascendancy before Cole Palmer managed to increase the gap between the two teams.
In an attempt to battle back from the brink, Gonzalo Garcia reduced the deficit, but it ultimately wasn’t enough, with Chelsea staying strong and emerging from the fixture with the victory.
Ultimately, Álvaro Arbeloa fell short in the tactical battle with Xabi Alonso. But despite this, during his post-match interview with Sky Sports, the reporter asked him whether he could get over the result and go out for a beer with his old Liverpool teammate.
He responded: “I don’t think so. Give me some days, give me some weeks.”
However, after reflecting on his memories with his countryman, he later conceded that this could be possible down the line, admitting: “We’ll have time for some beers.”
Robert Sanchez slammed by Chelsea fans
Fulham undeniably worked hard to make things difficult for ‘The Blues’.
However, Robert Sanchez not performing to his best certainly helped them.
The Spaniard won’t get over his performance in a hurry.
During the match, fans slammed Sanchez for the mistakes that left Chelsea down.
