Robert Sanchez made two major blunders during Fulham vs Chelsea.
The Spaniard has received backlash from fans for the errors.
Robert Sanchez made two massive mistakes
Tonight, Chelsea made the trip to Craven Cottage with the intent of reminding the world of just how lethal they can be. And it didn’t take them long to get their wish, with Joao Pedro ushering in the Xabi Alonso era in style.
In a moment of magic, Cole Palmer effortlessly picked out the Brazilian, who beautifully lifted the ball over the goalkeeper after just 31 seconds of the match.
However, refusing to give in, Fulham battled back with Josh King finding the equaliser after the ball went straight underneath Robert Sanchez, who really ought to have saved the effort.
Regardless, the home side’s joy was short-lived, with Morgan Rogers restoring Chelsea’s lead.
In the 49th minute, Palmer increased the gap by putting the ball into the back of the net himself. However, while Alonso was delighted by that, he wasn’t overly pleased when Sanchez made another mistake.
This time, after making a save, the goalkeeper pushed the ball directly into the path of Gonzalo Garcia, who headed it home.
While Chelsea eventually emerged victorious in a 3-2 thriller, it certainly wasn’t a game that Sanchez will look back on fondly.
Fans react to Robert Sanchez errors
Unsurprisingly, fans were quick to head to social media to voice their views on what they’d just witnessed.
One wrote: “Robert Sanchez might be the worst goalkeeper in the Premier League right now.”
