Dana White has received backlash for making this fight.
The UFC promoter has yet to set the boxing world alight since making his move into the sport.
Dana White slammed for making Johnny Fisher vs Michael Pirotton
Today, the entrepreneur confirmed that Johnny Fisher will take on Michael Pirotton in the main event of Zuffa Boxing 11 at the Copper Box Arena in London, UK.
‘The Romford Bull’, who has fought just once since losing in disastrous fashion to Dave Allen, is back in the main event spot, with the warrior determined to prove he’s still capable of making a splash in the sport.
In the opposite corner, stands a relatively unknown boxer, with a record of 12-2 (6KOs). His only career losses have come against undefeated fighters.
On paper, the bout could make for an entertaining contest between two heavyweights at a similar level.
However, it hasn’t gone down brilliantly with the fans, with many taking to social media to voice their displeasure.
One said: “Fair play to Fisher, but Eddie Hearn was right; if he put on this fight as a headliner, he’d be slaughtered. Zuffa paying that money for this is insane.”
Another added: “I like Johnny, but this is a joke fight,” while a third wrote: “Dana White said, ‘Speak on my body of work at the end of the year’. Dana, you’ve got a few months left to show us something. So far, what you have shown has been terrible.”
Who is on the Johnny Fisher vs Michael Pirotton undercard?
Before the power punchers walk to the ring, the crowd will have plenty of other fights to get their teeth sunk into.
In the co-main event, Craig Richards will take on Radivoje Kalajdzic.
Furthermore, Lee Cutler will battle it out with Louis Greene.
