Aaron McKenna is excited for what’s next after winning the IBF middleweight world title.

The gifted fighter defeated Etinosa Oliha in the main event of Zuffa Boxing 10 at the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland.

Aaron McKenna vows to dominate two weight classes

On a night he’ll never forget, Aaron McKenna finally scaled the boxing mountain. 20 years on from lacing up the gloves for the first ever time at just six, the Irish athlete has proven his skills to the world by claiming the belt he’s dreamt of for two decades.

With a crowd of raucous fans behind him, there was no way McKenna was going to let this opportunity pass him by. Having spent time training in America’s toughest gyms, the warrior was ready for the test in front of him.

Showcasing skills in abundance, McKenna utilised his rapid hands and snapping jab to assert his dominance early, with his left hook keeping Oliha constantly aware of the threat of what could happen if he ate too many blows.

The Italian brawler refused to give up without a fight, finding a home for powerful right hooks. However, as the bout progressed, McKenna’s superior ability began to shine through, with the classy operator landing the higher quality punches while completely nullifying the offence coming back in his direction.

After a clash of heads resulted in a cut in the 11th round, knowing there was just three minutes separating him from the achievement of a lifetime, McKenna boxed smart in the final segment, making it to the final bell, where he was awarded with a unanimous decision victory.

In the aftermath of the contest, attention quickly switched to what the future holds for the new IBF King. Not only does McKenna want to dominate the 160lbs division, but he also believes he has the minerals to beat the best of the best at 168lbs as well.

When asked who he wants to take on next during his post-fight interview, McKenna responded: “Doesn’t matter—anyone who wants it. I’m easy to find now that I’ve got a belt. You will not be hiding anymore. I wanna collect every single belt in boxing. I’m the best middleweight in the world and super middleweight; I don’t mind jumping up either, it doesn’t matter to me.”
