While the Norwegian is considered one of the best goal-scorers on the planet, he failed to deliver on this occasion.

Erling Haaland missed a clear opportunity

Having looked nothing short of magnificent last season, fans were hopeful for another big campaign for Erling Haaland in 2026/27.

However, the opening half of Manchester City vs Bournemouth didn’t exactly go to plan for the powerhouse.

In the 13th minute, Nico O’Reilly burst down the left wing and fired in a beautiful cross, which landed on a plate for Haaland.

However, in a moment of madness, the striker missed the ball with his foot and chested it completely off-target, allowing the visitors to survive an early scare.

Unsurprisingly, football enthusiasts headed to social media to react to what had just happened.

One said: “Erling Haaland’s new hair is affecting his goal-scoring ability,” while another added: “Erling Haaland misses. That was a massive chance for Manchester City.”

To make matters worse, Marcus Tavernier punished the favourites in the 26th minute, bagging a tremendous goal to give the underdogs the lead.
