Gabriel and Eberechi Eze were left heartbroken after missing their penalties for Arsenal in the Champions League final.
On a night fans of the English club will, rightly or wrongly, remember for a very long time to come, PSG overcame early adversity to cement their status as the best club in world football once again.
Gabriel and Eberechi Eze miss penalties for Arsenal in Champions League final
There was drama galore tonight at the Puskas Arena in Budapest, Hungary. In a moment of magic, ‘The Gunners’ took the lead after just five minutes, with Kai Havertz hammering the ball into the back of the net.
Despite a promising first-half for the underdogs, in the 64th minute, PSG made its way back into the game, with Ousmane Dembele converting from the spot to level the score.
After 90 minutes, the teams couldn’t be separated, resulting in extra time, during which Declan Rice fumed over a penalty shout that wasn’t given.
Following half an hour, the two clubs still weren’t separated, meaning a dreaded shootout awaited. While there were an array of terrific penalties from the Arsenal players, two men will be flying home from Hungary with a heavy feeling of sadness hanging over their heads.

Eberechi Eze made the decision to utilise the stutter step technique, which is beautiful when it works, but disastrous when it doesn’t. On this occasion, everything went wrong, with the talented player putting the ball wide.
Luckily, David Raya stopped a PSG penalty in its tracks to make up for his teammate’s mistake.
Alas, in the end, this still wasn’t enough, with Gabriel firing the ball far over the bar, gifting PSG the Champions League trophy.
While Arsenal have won the Premier League, narrowly missing out on picking up the biggest trophy in club football will undoubtedly be an extremely difficult pill to swallow.
