The European giants have won both of their group stage games, and look like one of the most dangerous teams in the competition. However, there’s no denying that this news is a blow.
Nico Schlotterbeck is out of the FIFA World Cup 2026
Germany defender Nico Schlotterbeck is officially ruled out of the FIFA World Cup 2026 after suffering an ankle injury during his country’s 2-1 victory against the Ivory Coast.
In a statement, the German national team broke the news, saying the player: “Suffered an injury to the medial collateral ligament in his left ankle” and “will be out for several months.”

The statement later added that the Borussia Dortmund star will: “Remain with the team in the USA for the time being.”
While Germany have already bagged the number one spot in group E, and will play in the last 32 regardless of what happens against Ecuador on Thursday, the rest of the squad will undoubtedly be disappointed with what’s occurred.
