Manuel Neuer makes FIFA World Cup history during Germany vs Ivory Coast

Manuel Neuer has made history with a crazy statistic at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

In his career, the goalkeeper has proven his status as one of the best players in his position of the modern era. And tonight, he’s added yet another accomplishment to his already impressive resume.

On Sunday, Manuel Neuer played in Germany’s 7-1 victory against Curacao. And now, he has something else to smile about.

This evening, the legend stepped out onto the pitch to take on the Ivory Coast at the BMO Field in Toronto, Canada.

The second the first whistle blew, the superstar made history by becoming the goalkeeper to have made the most appearances at the FIFA World Cup, with an impressive tally of 21.

However, Neuer didn’t have long to soak up the achievement as Ivory Coast hadn’t set foot on the field just to make up the numbers, with Franck Kessie hammering the ball into the back of the net to give the underdogs the lead after 30 minutes.

With that in mind, the German shot-stopper will have to be perfect for the rest of the match and hope that his teammates can find a way to carve a hole through the opposition’s defense and score for themselves.

If their first game is anything to go by, there’s nothing to worry about. However, going 1-0 down against Ivory Coast is a completely different kettle of fish to conceding early against Curacao.
