James Rodriguez makes shock transfer to eighth club in only six years

James Rodriguez has signed for a new club in a surprising transfer.

While the gifted player was linked with a move to Europe, he’s now gone in a different direction.

James Rodriguez signs for Atletico Nacional

James Rodriguez has officially signed for Atletico Nacional on a free transfer, signing a contract that will see him stay in Colombia until the summer of 2027.

The 35-year-old, who was unemployed at the FIFA World Cup 2026, most recently played for Minnesota United in the MLS.

In his rollercoaster career, Rodriguez has represented 14 clubs in 12 different countries, including a stint with Real Madrid in La Liga and a period with Everton in the Premier League.

In the last six years alone, he has played for eight different sides.

During the World Cup, Rodriguez reminded the world of just how good he can be when he’s in form. The 2014 FIFA Puskas Award winner looked tremendous for Colombia.

And now, he’s hoping to continue building his legacy in front of adoring crowds made up of supporters who’ve wanted him to return home for a very long time.
