Liverpool fans fume at Nottingham Forest penalty
Liverpool vs Nottingham Forest delivered in abundance, with the match providing drama galore.
After 24 minutes, Dan Ndoye gave the underdogs the lead with an excellent finish, before Alexander Isak lunged onto the end of a cross to equalise for ‘The Reds’.
Then, controversy struck. After a somewhat dubious throw-in from his teammate, Neco Williams pounced, bursting into the box, before trying to lift the ball over Alisson.
In a strange moment, the Forest star ended up flying over the goalkeeper, resulting in the referee giving a penalty, which Morgan Gibbs-White converted.
WOW: Florian Wirtz could have to leave Liverpool very soon, according to a club icon
Unsurprisingly, Liverpool fans were furious, with many taking to social media to voice their concerns.
One said: “Alisson brushed past him, and Neco Williams went down like he’d been hit by a bus. Classic.”
Another added: “Sorry, but that’s never a penalty,” while a third raged: “Did nobody see the foul throw?”
A fourth fumed: “Alisson didn’t take out Williams, and there was a foul throw.”
Luckily for the home side, Victor Munoz scored a screamer in the 82nd minute to rescue a point for Liverpool.
