Michael Carrick is set to stay at Manchester United
When Michael Carrick stepped up to the plate last January, he injected a sense of positivity into a struggling Manchester United side.
Under his guidance, the team has come on leaps and bounds, ultimately finishing third in the Premier League.
With such a positive end to the campaign, fans started to believe that the former midfielder was capable of bringing the club back to its former glory.
Alas, United have failed to deliver in 2026/27 thus far, winning just one out of four league matches and crashing out of the Carabao Cup after throwing away a two-goal lead to lose 3-2 against Brighton and Hove Albion.
With such a poor run of form, reports started to emerge from Italy that Antonio Conte would replace Carrick at United.
However, at least for now, the legend’s job is safe. The Athletic claims that his position is completely secure, with no contingency plans being drawn up.
