Rayan Cherki just produced a truly special moment for Manchester City against Crystal Palace.

The Premier League giants dominated their opponents in a comprehensive 4-1 victory at Selhurst Park.

After a tough start to life under Enzo Maresca, Manchester City looked significantly better this evening, with the talented side quickly finding a way through Crystal Palace’s defence, with Erling Haaland scoring a tremendous header after just 17 minutes.

However, despite the Norwegian’s effort, it was Rayan Cherki who stole the show. In a moment of genuine brilliance, he effortlessly weaved around several defenders, somehow keeping the ball in the most difficult of circumstances, before eventually slotting it into the back of the net with remarkable class.

Of course, fans were quick to head to social media to react to the magnificence on display.

One said: “Rayan Cherki with a Puskas-worthy goal,” while another added: “Rayan Cherki is a different breed with the way he runs to confuse the defenders, making them think he’s going to pass, then decides to go for the goal himself. That’s insane.”

A third wrote: “Rayan Cherki is the French Lionel Messi.”

And to really top off a tremendous performance, after Crystal Palace pulled one back, Cherki scored a second goal from long distance, before Haaland beat the goalkeeper once again.

Rayan Cherki says it’s a new era for Manchester City

After a shocking display in the Community Shield and a lucky escape against Bournemouth, Cherki is delighted that things are turning around for his team.

When asked if it’s a new era for the club during his post-match interview with Sky Sports, he replied: “Yes, of course. With Pep Guardiola, we had a big story, and now we have started a new story. This is what we’ve wanted to do all week, and I’m here for that.”
