Tonight, the fan favourite went head-to-head with Esteban Ribovics at the Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA.

In his MMA career, Edson Barboza has proven his status as one of the most dangerous strikers to have ever entered the cage, with his trademark kicks still sending shivers down the spines of everyone who has had the misfortune of having felt one connect on their chins.
However, with his best days now clearly in the rearview mirror, the Brazilian’s time in the sport came to an end.
After watching his opponent cry on the way to the octagon, Ribovics showed no mercy, dominating proceedings from the first bell.

After being dropped in the opener, Barboza returned to the corner, where Daniel Cormier noticed he’d suffered a brutal injury to his shin, with the former two-weight UFC world champion, saying during commentary that it was: “Split wide open.”
Showcasing heart in abundance, the warrior entered the second round with determination to turn the tide. Alas, his rival was too much, with the referee jumping in to call a halt to the action after the veteran ate one too many punches.

Understandably, Barboza was very emotional during his final interview with Joe Rogan.
With tears in his eyes, he exclaimed: “I just say thank you. I did my best every single day, and I gave my best in every fight. I hope you guys enjoyed it.”
Following the contest, the lethal kicker left his gloves inside the cage to an enormous applause from the crowd.
