Squid Game takes over Europe’s biggest MMA promotion with dramatic twist

Squid Game arrived at Oktagon 65 in a big way, with pink guards swarming the arena and legendary fighters participating in challenges Netflix viewers have come to know and love.

The popular show’s famous theme song blasted through the O2 Arena in Prague, Czech Republic, setting a dramatic atmosphere for the action that unfolded throughout the night.

Squid Game and Oktagon MMA join forces

On a night MMA enthusiasts will never forget, Losene Keita obliterated Ronald Pardeiser to win €300,000 and the coveted Tipsport Gamechanger title.

In addition, the 20,000 in attendance, sat on the edge of their seats as Czech hero, Karlos Vemola, refused to go down, in a valiant effort to defend his championship belt against Will Fleury.

However, it wasn’t just the fights that made the evening extra special.

To create something truly groundbreaking, Oktagon teamed up with Netflix’s central European head office to promote Squid Game: Series 2. 

While the branding inside the cage and around the venue certainly stood out, you simply couldn’t miss the pink guards standing in various locations across the arena.

To make things even better, the fighters participating in the event, marched into battle, alongside Squid Game’s iconic characters, making for an array of epic walkouts.

As well as getting the chance to take pictures with Young-hee, from ‘Red Light, Green Light’, fans got the opportunity to really immerse themselves into the show, with a live viewing of one of the series’ most dramatic games — Tug of War.

Ahead of their eagerly-anticipated battle at Oktagon 67, inside the Werk Arena in Trinec, Czech Republic, on February 22, David Kozma and Robert Pukac, captained two teams in an intense battle, with ‘The Prince of Bratislava’s’ side eventually securing the victory, in a performance that will undoubtedly give the victor a huge boost of momentum ahead of his major showdown next month.
