‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin has opened up about his future within WWE, including a possible appearance at WrestleMania 39 in 2023.
Austin made a successful in-ring comeback at WrestleMania 38 earlier this month. After 19 years away from competitive action, the ‘Texas Rattlesnake’ accepted a challenge from Kevin Owens.
Austin v Owens was the main event on night one. Despite being 57 years of age – and with a history of neck problems – Austin put on an impressive display. He even took a suplex to the concrete.

After a spell of brawling in the crowd and on the WrestleMania stage, ‘Stone Cold’ ended the match with a Stunner for a pinfall victory. He then toasted the crowd and drank cans of beer in the WWE ring in typical Steve Austin fashion.
The WWE Hall of Famer then made a surprising return on night two. He performed Stunners on Vince McMahon, Pat McAfee and Austin Theory in an entertaining segment, before once again drinking cans of beer in front of the crowd.
After the match, WWE fans have questioned what the future holds for Steve Austin. Some even wonder if he would consider wrestling any more matches.

Speaking on the Brewbound Podcast, Austin suggested he was now finished with in-ring competition following a successful one-match comeback. However, he did not rule out future appearances – particularly at next year’s wrestling extravaganza.
He explained (quotes via Wrestling News): “I would really imagine that within the scope of [WrestleMania 39], that’s gonna be a big show in a big-time city, and it’ll be a two-night event again.
“So I’m not – I’m sure I’m done with wrestling per se, but as a part of WWE, I can’t imagine I would not be there in some capacity.
“I’m not booking myself on the show because I didn’t book myself on 38. That’s a Vince [McMahon] thing, and I have a great relationship with him. If I get the call, I’ll be there.”
Where is WrestleMania 39 going to be held?
WrestleMania 39 will be hosted by the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. Branded as ‘WrestleMania Hollywood’, the event promises to be a cracker.
The event was initially scheduled for California in 2019 under the same branding. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, WWE moved the ‘Show of Shows’ to Tampa, Florida.
No matches have been confirmed for WrestleMania 39 as of yet. However, WWE has dropped hints that a blockbuster clash between real-life cousins The Rock and Roman Reigns could headline the billing.

Meanwhile, former Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch has indicated that there have been plans to potentially have her face Ronda Rousey in Hollywood.
Speaking to the New York Post in March, she said: “I think the idea was, let’s given it even more of a build and possibly do this in Hollywood of all places. I think the idea was to give it a little bit of extra time, and hell, let frickin’ Ronda get her feet wet.”
