The sublime mixed martial artist produced a sensational performance, cruising to a unanimous decision victory against his Irish rival at the Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA.

Islam Makhachev looked nothing short of tremendous against Ian Machado Garry. After completely dominating his foe in the grappling department in round one, he reminded the world that his striking prowess certainly shouldn’t be overlooked, dropping his opponent with a thunderous head kick in the second segment.

In a testament to his fighting heart, Machado Garry battled back, winning the third and pushing the UFC lightweight champion close in the fourth.

However, in the final round, Makhachev showcased his class, taking his foe down and controlling the action until the end of the contest.

At this stage, there’s no denying that the all-time great stands alone as the pound-for-pound number one. And he’s being paid accordingly.

As per reports, the 34-year-old made $4.14M (£3,059,460) for his victory against Machado Garry.
