‘I was fighting five lads’… Darren Till had an outrageous brawl in front of a shocked Liam Smith

EXCLUSIVE: Darren Till once rendered Liam Smith stunned after getting into a brawl with five people at the same time.

Tonight, ‘The Gorilla’ will put his fighting skills on full display when he goes to war with Yoel Romero at BKFC 94, inside the AO Arena in Manchester, UK.

Back in 2012, to enhance his skills inside the cage, at the age of just 19, Darren Till left his life in Liverpool behind, in favour of a move to Brazil.

But having created so many memories in Merseyside, it was only fitting that he leave with a bang, with his last night in his home city descending into chaos.

In an exclusive interview with Sporf, Till reminisced: “I was actually in Liverpool, ready to fly to Brazil. I was in our local boozer, and Liam Smith used to go there. He was a bit older than me, so he was with all the older lads. I was like, ‘Hi Liam’, and then, ten minutes later, he must just have looked over and been like, ‘What is this mad man doing’? I was fighting five lads; it got brought outside, and my face was cut to ribbons.

“I had to get on a flight, and my coach in Brazil was like, ‘What’s happened to you’? I replied, ‘I’ve been fighting in the street’. He said, ‘When are you going to grow up’? I said, ‘Never’. People are still saying that to me, and I fire back, ‘I’m never going to grow up, I like the way I am, I like me, if you don’t like me, get out of my life’.”

While dominating rivals on the streets in Liverpool is one thing, overcoming Romero is an entirely different kettle of fish.

However, despite the enormity of the task at hand, the Brit is adamant that if he smells weakness, then he won’t show any hesitation in going for the knockout.

Till enthused: “I’m just expecting what Yoel is. You can’t sugarcoat it, he’s a big, intimidating guy. I do respect him. I’m going in there to knock him out, make no mistake, but I’ve got a lot of admiration and respect for him. On Saturday, we’ll stick our game plans on each other, and the best man will win. If I see the openings or him lacking, I will pounce like a shark. It’s five two-minute rounds; I’m not going to gas; I will go for it.”
