Michael Carrick confirms what Marcus Rashford will do next in transfer twist

Michael Carrick has given an update on the future of Marcus Rashford.

The Englishman’s future has been up in the air throughout the summer.

Marcus Rashford will join Manchester United teammates in Ireland

According to Michael Carrick, Marcus Rashford is officially heading to Ireland to join his Manchester United teammates in training camp. Having previously fallen out of favour at Old Trafford, the striker spent last season on loan at Barcelona, where he scored 14 goals.

While linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur and even expressing a desire to stay at the Camp Nou, it appears Rashford will head back to his boyhood club.

Following the World Cup, in which he played a role in helping England reach the semi-finals, where they were eliminated by Argentina, the player was given an extended break and has yet to link up with his United teammates. However, on Sunday, he was spotted at Carrington, and is set to fly to Ireland next week.

Following the club’s 1-1 draw with PSG on Saturday, Carrick told the media: “We have a full squad next week in Dublin. We fly straight there and meet Leeds on Wednesday.

“We have a few days in Dublin where we have the whole squad, including Marcus, Kobbie Mainoo and Lisandro Martinez.”

Discussing Rashford specifically, the manager added: “I’ve played with him. I played in the game he made his debut, so we have a history.”
