Moses Itauma brutally knocked out by Filip Hrgovic in one of the greatest comebacks of all time

Moses Itauma just got ruthlessly finished by Filip Hrgovic in a shocking upset.

The pair of boxing titans just delivered an absolutely sensational fight at the O2 Arena in London, UK.

Going into tonight, Moses Itauma was considered a huge favourite over Filip Hrgovic. After all, in his career to date, the Brit had looked nothing short of brilliant, showcasing incredible power, raw talent and a boxing IQ far beyond his years.

And all of those qualities were on full display tonight; the only issue was that the trademark toughness that his opponent has become renowned for proved too big a mountain for the prospect to climb.

With the IBF heavyweight championship on the line, Itauma started at a frightening pace, landing enormous blows on his rival.

It looked like the fight could finish early, especially when Hrgovic hit the canvas in the second round. However, in a testament to his toughness, he battled through, landing some good shots of his own in the third.

Alas, as the bout continued, he simply couldn’t stop the Englishman from punching him square in the face, resulting in a nasty cut opening up above his eye.

Somehow, Hrgovic soldiered on. However, at times, the contest began to become uncomfortable to watch, with fans wondering what on Earth the powerhouse was made of as blow after blow bounced off his chin.

In the eighth, Itauma went all out, with the stoppage looking just moments away. Somehow, Hrgovic dug deep, landing a couple back that just about took the wind out of his rival’s sails.

Realising that now was his time to strike, in the ninth, Hrgovic pounced like a shark, detonating thunderous blows that left Itauma falling all over the ring.

Proving his own mentality, the 21-year-old refused to give up, throwing back despite being virtually unable to stand up.

But knowing that his fighter was done, Ben Davidson threw in the towel at the same time as the referee jumped in, resulting in Hrgovic becoming the first-ever Croatian boxing world heavyweight champion in one of the greatest comebacks the sport has seen in a long time.
