Newcastle United is planning on making a huge signing.
This player, who was previously linked to Manchester United, would make a massive splash at St. James’ Park.
Newcastle United want Carlos Baleba
Newcastle United has set its sights on securing the signature of Carlos Baleba. After losing Bruno Guimaraes to Arsenal, the North-East side could do with bringing in another quality midfielder.
The Daily Mail reports that Newcastle have made an approach to Brighton to sign the Cameroonian.
Matthias Jaissle is said to be a huge admirer of Baleba, who would cost approximately £50 million. He nearly made a move to Manchester United this time last year before ultimately staying with ‘The Seagulls’.
This summer, the 3x European Cup winners looked set to renew their interest in the talented athlete. However, they instead splashed out a combined £83 million to sign Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans.
Why is Manchester United no longer interested in Carlos Baleba?
At one stage, Manchester United were determined to secure Baleba. However, this interest has perished, with Fabrizio Romano explaining why.
In a video uploaded to his YouTube channel, the journalist explained: “The injury for Carlos Baleba is making things more complicated. So Man United at the moment are not proceeding with the Carlos Baleba deal.”
