PFA Premier League Team of the Year announced with only two players who don’t represent Manchester City or Arsenal

The PFA Premier League Team of the Year has been confirmed, featuring a star-studded line-up that only includes two icons who don’t play for Manchester City or Arsenal.

The gala event took place at the Manchester Opera House on August 25.

The PFA Team of the Year featured five members of the Arsenal squad that won the Premier League. Unsurprisingly, David Raya, who won the Golden Glove Award, waltzed into the line-up, where he was joined by his teammates, Jurrien Timber, Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba.

The trio of Arsenal defenders made up the backline alongside Manchester City star Nico O’Reilly, who was one of four men from his club to make the line-up.

Arsenal and City were split in the midfield, with Declan Rice and Rayan Cherki both making the cut.

This is where the first outsider burst into the team. Bruno Fernandes of Manchester United, who secured a record-breaking 21 assists last season, not only walked into the line-up, but also emerged from the evening with the PFA Player of the Year Award.

While Arsenal didn’t struggle to find the back of the net last year, none of their players cracked the forward line.

Erling Haaland, who bagged 27 goals in the Premier League in the previous campaign, waltzed into the XI, where he was joined by his teammate Antoine Semenyo.

Then, making it in as an underdog was Brentford’s own Igor Thiago.
