EXCLUSIVE: Nemanja Vidic showcased class in abundance when he made a fantastic gesture to a Manchester United teammate.
While football is all about being the best and filling up your trophy cabinet, the Serbian put his ego to one side to give another player a memory he’ll never forget.
Nemanja Vidic gave Giuseppe Rossi his League Cup medal
In his career, Nemanja Vidic was renowned for his ferocious style on the pitch, leaving strikers terrified every single time he went in for one of his trademark tackles.
However, while certainly intimidating off the field, behind the bravado of a match day, the player was extremely kindhearted, once doing something truly special for a teammate.
After winning the League Cup in 2006 against Wigan Athletic, he opted to give his medal to Giuseppe Rossi, whom he deemed to have had more of an impact throughout the entirety of the competition.
In an exclusive interview with Sporf, via BetVictor Online Casino, the former Italian international reminisced: “It was a privilege to have played with him. When he first arrived, after one month, he was part of the team that won the Carling Cup, and up to that, I was playing every game. In the final, I was up in the stands, and I didn’t get a medal. Vidic took it off and gave it to me and went, ‘Listen, this is yours, you deserve it, not me’. That was an amazing gesture. It just tells you what a great man he was, not only as a player — we all know how good he was, one of the best in Premier League history, but also as a man and as a person; he’s a 10/10.”
