On Saturday night, ‘King Ry’ knocked ‘The Destroyer’ out in the second round at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

Going into the fight at the weekend, many believed that Ryan Garcia had far too much natural talent and boxing experience for Conor Benn to handle. And those assumptions were proved correct.

From the opening round, the Brit realised he was swimming in deep waters when two left hooks rocked him to his core.

As the opening three minutes rolled on, despite being at a massive disadvantage in the skill department, Benn showed signs that he might be able to bully his way into the contest, landing a body shot that caught the champion’s attention.

However, the gulf in class became clear beyond doubt in the second round when Garcia sent his rival flying towards the canvas with a powerful right hand.

While Benn bravely beat the count, he was promptly punched into the ropes, where the referee called a halt to the action.

Not only did the Mexican-American emerge from the contest, having retained his belt, but also with a great deal more money than he went into the bout with. According to reports, Garcia made $15 million (£11,085,000).
